Assessment and therapy planning is the foundation of effective therapy for you and your partner. Below are assessments undertaken by Cardiff Couples therapy.
To give you and your partner the most effective intervention, work begins with an online assessment conducted through Gottman Connect. This service is part of the Gottman Couple Therapy model. You will complete around twenty psychometric questionnaires covering both individual matters, and also couple dynamics. The results form the foundation of the first two couple therapy sessions .Results are shared individually with each member of the couple. The results give an indication of what are the key areas in your relationship to focus upon.
You, or your partner may consider that conditions such as neurodiversity, trauma or anger , are impacting upon your relationship . Cardiff Couples Therapy offer individual assessments for such conditions in order to assist treatment planning. This is not offering a diagnosis. Please see the blogpost which addresses these differences.
Cardiff Couple Therapy undertakes assessment of ADHD symptoms via QBtech test. This combines a computer-generated continuous performance task (CPT) with motion analysis to assess the three major ADHD symptoms of hyperactivity, inattention and impulsivity . The QB test claims to offer an objective measure of symptoms. It is combined with self-report by the individual and a significant other. It can be completed face to face or online.
Assessment of ASD symptoms is undertaken via the ADOS 2 . This is a structured interview process which is described as the “ gold standard “ of ASD assessment. It is best undertaken face to face as it includes one or more activities.
Anger is a naturally occurring emotion but can be destructive in relationships .Anger is assessed by the use of the Novaco Anger scale and Provocation index( NASPI) and the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory 2 ( Staxi 2). This two psychometrics give a measure of what are for an individual, the most problematic aspects of their experience of anger.
Trauma is assessed with the International Trauma questionnaire. This is a brief self-report measure which is designed for use with survivors of all types of traumatic stress.
